PTO Shaft Halves
A PTO shaft half is just one side of a complete PTO shaft. A standard PTO shaft consists of two parts: the tractor-side, which connects to the tractor, and the implement-side, which connects to the machine or implement. We offer PTO shaft halves so you don’t need to replace the entire shaft when only one coupling part is damaged.
What should I consider when choosing a PTO shaft half?
It’s important to check the length of the PTO shaft half. It must fit within the required sliding range between the tractor and the implement. Make sure to allow for at least 3 cm of overlap so that the two halves can slide into each other. Also check the profile (e.g. 1” 3/8 6-spline or 21-spline). Verify which type of coupling you need – such as with locking pin, universal joint or quick-release. Additionally, the PTO shaft must match the power of your machine; this is listed in the description of each shaft on our website.
When should I choose a separate PTO shaft half instead of a complete PTO shaft?
If one side is worn or damaged, it may be more economical to replace only the affected half. If you want to custom build your shaft, buying a single half can also be the more affordable choice. If you use different implements with varying connections, it can be practical to have a separate PTO shaft half for each implement.
